When Mr. Jenkins, the editor, asked me to write a weekly column, my initial thought was no. I didn’t think it right to write about the lovely folks of this town. But then, a very dear friend told me that an article like this would not only help spread the word about all the news happening in our town, but it might help people in need. So, of course, I just couldn’t pass up the chance. I have to say, though, in order to keep a level of anonymity, I will be using a pen name, so without further ado . . .

This week, all eyes have been on the dashing newcomer, Pastor Jack Boone, who recently arrived from Texas. I know many ladies in town who have been wondering about the handsome, older gentleman with a striking demeanor, and I’m here to tell you that I have recently discovered that, yes, dear readers, it appears our new spiritual guide is unattached. Does this mean there is, perhaps, the potential for a future Mrs. Boone in Featherstone Valley? Only time will tell. But I can’t say that the intriguing question of Pastor Boone's relationship status adds an extra layer of excitement to the mix. With all the eligible women in town being of a more youthful persuasion, the romantic possibilities are as tantalizing as a freshly baked pie cooling on a windowsill.
