This past weekend was a whirlwind adventure as my best friend and I, along with four kids, loaded up a U-Haul and hit the road for Tennessee. With her big move coming up, we packed as much as we could and set off on an 14+ hour drive, filled with road trip snacks, music, and plenty of “Are we there yet?” from the backseat.
By the time we arrived, we were exhausted but determined. We unloaded the U-Haul as fast as we could, knowing that a good meal and a decent night’s rest were waiting for us. And speaking of food—the highlight of the trip (besides one last road trip together, of course) was stopping at Gus’s Famous Fried Chicken in Memphis. If you’ve never been, you are seriously missing out! The crispy, spicy, juicy chicken was everything I had been craving, and even after all the hard work of moving, it was worth every bite.

After unloading the trailer at her new house we crashed at a Super 8, which at that point felt like a luxury hotel. We didn’t get to do any sightseeing or take our time, but the trip was more about making memories and spending time together before she moves. It’s never easy to say goodbye, but I’m grateful we got one last adventure before she heads to her new home.
Here are a few snapshots from the trip! 📸⬇️

Would I do it all over again? Absolutely. Maybe with a little more sleep next time. 😆
